Baptism

Madelyn was baptized at Lord of Life Church in Maple Grove on 8/29. It was such a special day and so many special people were there to share in the big day! Carla & Luke are Madelyn’s godparents which means so much to us.

During the baptism Pastor Peter said Madelyn has the most supportive Aunt as Carla was so sweet & kept Madelyn smiling even when he was pouring water on her head. I couldn’t agree more…..Madelyn has the best Auntie!!

Ryan’s parents, his brother Chris, my parents, both sets of my grandparents (Arnold & Marlys and Ray & Darlene), Carla, Luke and Bishop were there to celebrate. We had everyone to our house after the service and grilled out for lunch. It was a perfect day!

Triathalon

Ryan completed in his 1st triathalon on 8/27. There are two categories…..Olympic & Sprint and he jumped right into the Olympic category. He did awesome!! He has trained a lot and worked so hard – we were so excited to see him do so well. The swim was the hardest but at least he got it out of the way first. He rocked the bike & run! He is already planning his tris for next summer.

Ryan’s parents, my dad (my mom wasn’t feeling well), Carla, Luke, Bishop, Madelyn, Katie, her kids & I were there to cheer him on! Katie's husband, Matt, completed in the sprint tri and he did great too.

It was a gorgeous morning and we were so proud of Ryan!

Madelyn made a good luck sign for daddy at daycare!

Rice Cereal

Madelyn’s doctor said we could/should start her on rice cereal as she is growing so fast and breastmilk isn’t enough to keep her full all night long.

On 8/20 she got her first taste and it went well! She didn’t spit it out and actually wanted more. She wants to help hold the spoon and feed herself. Very independent already!

Before my 1st bite

It's good!

The night of 8/25 Madelyn slept for 9 hours straight….from 8:30 to 5:30 and I got 8 hours of sleep. I felt like a new person! Madelyn’s sleep has been pretty insistent – there are nights she only gets up 1x and others where she is up 4x. She hasn’t had another night (so far) where she has slept this long but since we have started the rice cereal she has only been up 1x/night which is much easier to handle!

4 Month Appointment

We had Madelyn's 4 month appointment on 8/16. She is doing great! She weighs 15 lbs 12 oz (90%) and is 26 3/4 inches (97%+) long. Her head is 42.2 cm (75%). She had another round of shots - she did so better than last time! Ryan held her which I think helped. I was hoping she would sleep all night because of her shots but that didn't happen :)

She has been rolling over from back to tummy for awhile but recently she started going from her tummy to her back. We (esp me!) is excited about this because many times when she wakes up in the middle of the night she is on her tummy and is frustrated because she wants to be on her back. Hopefully now she'll just roll back over & go back to sleep......I can hope, right?! :)

She loves standing up and is getting so much stronger. She is able to hold her head up better and loves being able to look around. She knows when she is by herself and doesn't like that - she loves being around people.....wonder who she gets that from?!? So crazy that you can already see traits & qualities of ourselves in her and she is only 4 months old! Madelyn is such a joy!

Busy Week & Weekend

Madelyn has been busy rolling over these days. She rolled over back in June but then hasn't rolled over much since. In the last week she has gotten so fast at rolling over. It used to take her awhile as she rocked back & forth to build up momentum. Now she just decides to roll and there she goes! She likes rolling over her back to the stomach. She has rolled from her stomach to her back a few times but she usually feels like she is "stuck" when she gets to her tummy. Her neck is getting much stronger.

She has started sitting in the bumbo & playing in the exer-saucer. She loves being upright. It's so fun to watch her play. Her little brain has to be going a million miles an hour as she is learning new stuff all the time!

Did I mention I drool ALL the time?!?!

Daycare continues to go well. She loves it (and so do we)!! They say she "talks" all the time.....more than anyone in the class. Guess she takes after her mama :) She is "star of the month" for the month of August. They post pictures & information about each of the babies. They just started the program and Madelyn was the 1st one, which of course we thought was pretty special.

We have had a busy weekend. We went to Pepitos with Carla, Luke & Bishop on Friday. Always enjoy seeing them! It's amazing to watch Bishop & Madelyn interact. Bishop loves Madelyn and gives her hugs & kisses all the time. Madelyn takes it all in and loves it! Bishop always wants to be close to "baby maddy". Just love that they will grow up being so close to each other! On Friday, Bishop wanted Uncle Ryan to read him books & play. He sat so contently while Uncle Ryan read to him.

Today we skyped Grandpa & Grandma Bormann, hung out with Shari & Max and then Ryan's Aunt Joan & Uncle Brian stopped by. So fun to talk & see everyone!

We have Madelyn's 4 month appointment on Tuesday so I will update with all her stats after the appointment. Hard to believe our baby girl is 4 months old already!

She loves Sophie!

Birthdays & Anniversary

My sister's birthday was 8/2, Grandpa Arnie's birthday was 8/6 & my grandparents 66th wedding anniversary was 8/11. We celebrated all these events on 8/7 in Owatonna. It was a fun weekend! We went to Owatonna on Saturday (8/6). Ryan, Luke, my dad & I golfed on Saturday afternoon while my mom & sister watched the kids. We all had a blast! It's so fun to be together!!

Sunday we went to Pizza Ranch to celebrate. Madelyn slept the whole time & Bishop entertained us! He is such a sweetie! He wanted to be held by Auntie quite a bit last weekend which made me feel pretty special :)
