Wine Country 2014!

We took a trip to Wine County with the McCormick's in late September.  None of us had been there so there was a lot to see and learn!  Erin was our travel coordinator (she was amazing!!!) and she got us hooked up with all the best wineries and VIP tastings!  It was so much fun!  We spent this trip on the Sonoma side as we didn't have enough time to cover both Napa & Sonoma.  We went for a long weekend - it is never long enough but since we were drinking wine most of the day that was a perfect length of time for this trip (at least for me)! :)  I have a feeling we'll be heading back out there again some day!  An awesome trip with even more awesome friends!!!

Some of our favorites were:

Alexander Valley Vineyard - we had a private tour which was perfect for our 1st stop.  We learned so much about the art of making wine and finished off the tour with a picnic lunch.

A.Rafanelli was our next stop.

Williams Selyem

An absolutely perfect day!
This winery was the most modern.....and it had some of our favorite wines!

Martinelli Winery - this is where we had our VIP tasting!  Pretty awesome to be treated VIP - thanks Erin for hooking us up!  This is where I found my absolute favorite red Zinfandel......yummy yummy!

Redwoods & Rivers End - on our last night we went to Rivers End, a restaurant that our neighbors recommended.  On our way we stopped at a Redwood Forest and then we got to see the sunset on the ocean.  It was all fabulous and a great way to cap off this fun trip!

Golden Gate Bridge - we had a little extra time on our way to the airport so we stopped to snap some pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge

Happy Birthday Great Marlys!

Great Grandma Marlys would have been 88 this past Wednesday.  I'm sure she had an awesome celebration with Arnie :) Madelyn had her dentist appointment in the evening. She did great and was so brave. She had x-rays and didn't even flinch when we left the room. Best news of all, no cavities....

......so we headed out for ice cream to celebrate and remember GG Marlys!
We love you and miss you Grandma but we know you are smiling down on all of us!

This was the best we could do with Jack -- he's not much into taking pictures these days!

Jack's 2nd Birthday!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jack!  Unfortunately sickness plagued our house again this year so we had to postpone/improvise Jack's birthday party.  Madelyn came down with strep on Thursday and then Jack had a croup cough on Friday night.

Grandpa Kenny & Grandma Emily came up on Friday to watch Madelyn since she was home sick so we celebrated with them on Saturday and then Papa & Nana came up on Sunday and we all celebrated together.  My sister and her family were heading to Mexico later in the week so we didn't want to expose them to all/whatever we had going around our house.  Poor Uncle Chris had influenza - tough year for sickness.  Luckily Jack is only 2 and doesn't know the difference.....plus this means he gets to keep opening presents :)  We had a combined birthday theme of Olaf from Frozen and Elmo!

On Monday, Jack's official birthday, we ended up getting a call from daycare that Jack had a temp of 102.5......so off to the dr we went to celebrate Jack's birthday.  Poor little guy!  He was diagnosed with RSV and given an inhaler.....which he hates but it has helped his cough.  We still went to 5 Guys for hotdogs as that was Jack's request :)  By the time we got the prescription and got home it was close to 8:00 so we decided to wait to open presents until Tuesday night.

Nana is a lifesaver!  She ended up coming up 3x in one week - 1x to celebrate Jack's birthday and 2x to take care of Jack because he had a temp/was sick.  Jack loved his time with Nana in fact if he wasn't diagnosed with an ear infection later in the week I was starting to think he was rigging it just so he could spend time with Nana :)

Jack, it is so hard to believe you are 2 already!  You make us laugh and smile every single day!  Whether it's by the funny expressions on your face or playing "where's Jack" when you are supposed to be taking a nap.  Lately all you want to do is give Madelyn a hug and say hi - which is much appreciated by Madelyn most of the time :)  You have had such a big year and learned how to do so many new things - a year ago you couldn't walk and now you are running and climbing all over the place.  You love to learn and we can't wait to see all of the things you do this coming year!  You are such a sweetheart and we love you so much!
Elmo/Spidey with Grandpa & Grandma
Loving the talking John Deere tractor from Uncle Marc & Aunt Jody!
Another amazing creation from Grandpa Kenny - Jack's own stable, trough along with cows!

Guess which one of us didn't have cake??
Smiles with Grandpa & Grandma!
All smiles!

Great Aunt Sandy gave Jack the cutest Olaf books and hat!
She didn't even know that this was going to be his theme-it was perfect!
Jack loves his battery powered drill from Nana & Papa!
Madelyn loves the Olaf hat too :)
My mother and my daughter - love them both so much!
Papa and the birthday boy!

The Thomas the Train tent has been a huge hit!
Great idea Daddy!
