Baby Jack is here!

Our sweet baby boy, Jack Ryan Bormann, arrived on Saturday at 6:16 am.  He weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and was 21.25 inches long.  He is absolutely perfect!!  We are so in love with him!

As I suspected I went into labor around 10:00 pm on Friday.  Based on my experience with Madelyn that was about the same I timeframe that I went into labor with her (10 hours after having my membranes stripped).  We headed to the hospital around 3:45 am.  I was dilated to 5 when we got there.  They hooked me up and started monitoring baby.  He was so low and because I progressed so fast his heart rate had dropped to the 60's (apparently it is supposed to be between 110-160).  Due to the drop in his heart rate the dr said they needed to get him out - so basically they would give me a few pushes otherwise we would be heading off for a c-section.  I figured there was no way he would come naturally since I pushed for over 3.5 hours with Madelyn.  Thankfully it only took 4-5 pushes and he was out.......less than 10 minutes.  Ryan said the doctor literally pulled him out once his head was there.

Everything went great and Jack is/was totally fine!  He has been thriving since and is doing great!

It was such a different feeling than with Madelyn.  After being in labor for over 18 hours with Madelyn and being completed exhausted by the time she came, I felt great not too long after Jack arrived.

Madelyn was well taken care of while we were in the hospital.  Shari and her son, Max, came over in the middle of the night when I went into labor.  Madelyn & Max have a great time together so they played and played and had a great time.  Ryan's parents and my parents were around over the weekend as well so lots of grandparent time for Madelyn......how could you not have a great time when you have 4 grandparents around!

Madelyn came to visit a couple times a day.  She didn't know what to think the 1st time but by the end she was running around, and giving Baby Jack hugs & kisses.

We were discharged on Monday.  I picked up Madelyn from daycare as I was missing her like crazy!!! I walked in her classroom and started crying when I saw her!  She looked at me like "what's wrong mommy??!".  It was so fun to see her and spend a little time together before we got home.

We are doing great!  Adjusting to life as a family of 4.  Jack slept great the first night, not as well last night.  Madelyn loves hugging Jack.....all the time!  Thankfully Ryan is home all this week so that has been a huge help.

Last Baby Update

We had another appointment this morning.  I have made some progress over the past couple days so that's a good thing!  I was dilated to a 3.  I have been feeling contractions - nothing that is painful but can feel things going on.

My dr stripped my membranes today and I am scheduled for an induction on Sunday.  The hospital was full tomorrow.  This is the exact same scenario that happened with Madelyn......and then I went into labor the night they stripped my membranes.  We are hoping that is the case again this time around!

We got a call this afternoon from daycare that Madelyn has a temp of 102.  Nothing like adding a little more excitement to the weekend!  She has been in great spirits the past couple days and has been happy since we got home.  Hopefully it's short-lived!

Our next update will be after our sweet baby boy is finally here!  We can not wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

41 Weeks!

Here we are again at 41 weeks and still no baby!  Same situation as when Miss Madelyn was in the womb :)

I had another appointment this morning and have made very little, if any, progress.  They did some routine testing - an ultrasound to test amniotic fluid and monitor baby's movements.  The amniotic level was borderline low but our dr wasn't concerned.  That is normal when you get passed 41 weeks.  Our little guy passed all his testing - they tested for breathing, body movements and arm/leg extensions - so that was great!  Then they did a non-stress test and the results were all within the normal range.

Based on the fact that I am feeling good and our baby is doing great, we are waiting to see if he will come on his own this week.  If not, I have a follow up appointment on Friday.  If he's still not here by Friday, they will either strip my membranes, break my water or induce.  He should be here this weekend, if not before!

After seeing our little sweetheart in the ultrasound this morning, I can't wait for him to get here!  I can feel him moving all the time but seeing his sweet face made me even more excited!

One picture of Madelyn from the weekend - she insisted on taking her hat & mittens with her for her nap.  This is what she looked like when she woke up :)

Baby Update

I had another follow up appointment today.  My doctor is on vacation this week so I saw a nurse practitioner.  I just loved her!  I think she would still be sitting with us, answering our questions if we wanted her to.

Still no baby and he doesn't appear to be very anxious to get out into the world.  I haven't made much progress in the past few weeks.  There was talk about stripping my membranes today but since my body wasn't ready, it likely wouldn't have worked and would've been pretty painful.  I think that's funny because 'painful' is relative in my mind when you compare it to labor & delivery!  Anyways, Ryan & I were both happy with where things are at.  Of course we can't wait to meet our sweetheart but it's always easier when they come when they are ready.

I am feeling great and our little guy is thriving so that is the best news we could ask for at this point!!  We'll see where things are at again next Tuesday.  In the mean time we are getting as much sleep as possible since we know that will all change as soon as he gets here!

40 Weeks!

Tomorrow is my due date!  So far no baby boy Bormann and I'm doubting he will come on his own.  I was over a week late with Madelyn and I haven't made much progress so far with this little one.  He seems to be pretty comfy, cozy inside.  My next follow up appointment is on Wed (1/9) so we'll see where things are at then.

Until his arrival, we are soaking in all the time we have with sweet Madelyn as our only child!  We have had a great weekend together, except for that Madelyn got sick during the night on Friday.  She recovered quickly and is back to herself.  We were planning on going swimming with the Froehle's yesterday but since Madelyn was sick we didn't want to spread any germs so we just rested.  Today we went out for breakfast and then went swimming.
