1st Wedding

We went to Algona, IA to see Grandpa & Grandma Bormann on May 27th. Again, the car ride went great ~ Madelyn slept the whole time! She met a couple of her Great Aunts & Uncles.....Dean & Mary and Jon & Jane. She also met Aunt Jody and saw Uncle Mark again.

Cute princess outfit from Great Aunt Jane!

Ryan was the best man in his friend's wedding on the 28th. We got Madelyn all dressed up and she was off to her 1st wedding. I wasn't sure how she would do during the service but she did great. She met some of Ryan's friends which was fun. Grandpa & Grandma Bormann took Madelyn home from the reception early so Ryan & I could stay a little later. We were back to their house by 10:30 pm, which I know isn't very late, but it was the latest I had been up since having Madelyn! We enjoyed our time in Iowa!

One Month Old

On May 21st, Madelyn took her first roadtrip. Ryan had a bachelor party so he dropped Madelyn & me off in Owatonna. This was Madelyn's longest car ride and she slept the whole time! I was a little nervous how sleeping in the pack n play would go but she did great and only got up at her usual time (2:00 am & 6:00 am).

It was fun to have Madelyn meet some of my friends who live in Owatonna. Plus it was fun hanging out with Grandpa Barry & Grandma Sharon! We always love seeing them and they are such a huge help! We could have never made it through the first few weeks/months without all their help. We appreciate it more than you will ever know!!

This was a test run for the following weekend when we would be heading to Iowa!

Easter

We went to Luke, Carla & Bishop's house to celebrate Easter. Madelyn was only 12 days old. She did great -- slept the whole time, which we later realized wasn't the best thing as she was sleeping all day and up most of the night. Luckily we were able to make the transition to more sleep during the night!

Bishop just loves Madelyn. He is so sweet to her. He gives her kisses & is so gentle with her. Madelyn loves Bishop and is so lucky to have such a fun loving cousin! She can't wait to grow up & be able to play with Bishop!

Going Home & 1 Week Appointment

We went home from the hospital on Friday, April 15th. All went well. Madelyn slept the whole way home from the hospital. Our biggest surprise was when we were getting ready for bed. We had the bassinet in our room and put Madelyn down around 10:00 pm. We knew we weren't going to get much sleep but we didn't realize that the only way she would sleep was if someone was holding her......so we took shifts and held her through the night for the 1st 4 nights. After that she transitioned to the bassinet and is now sleeping in her crib.

So peaceful....and one of my favorites!

We had Madelyn's 1 week appointment on 4/20/2011. She weighed 9 lbs 3 ozs and was 22 inches long. In the 97% & 95% respectively.

Madelyn Michelle

We welcomed Madelyn Michelle into our lives on 4/13/11 at 3:44 pm! She absolutely lights up our world and we are beyond blessed! Here's the history behind my labor and Miss Madelyn's arrival.

Baby Bormann was due on April 5th but April 5th came and went and no baby. My next appointment was on April 12th. If I made it to that appointment, which I did, I would be scheduled for an induction.

I was completely bummed when I found out that I had to wait until April 14th to be induced since the hospital was full/booked on April 13th. I knew there was a possibility the hospital might be full but I really didn't expect that to be the case. I was devastated. I cried on the way home from my dr appointment~I was just so sad. I felt like we were never going to meet our baby! The only bright side to being induced on April 14th was that my sister, Carla, would more than likely be there for our baby's birth. She was traveling for work and would be home on the 14th.

Everyone says 'you'll know' when you're in labor but that is so hard to believe until you actually experience for yourself. Well I figured out what everyone means around 9:30 pm on April 12th. I started having contractions so I thought I would go to bed and try and get some rest. Bad idea....didn't take long to figure out that wasn't going to work as it was too painful to lay down so I spent the night walking around our house and timing my contractions.

I was on the fence the whole night as to if/when we should go to the hospital. We were delivering at Methodist, which is about 20-25 min from our house so we didn't want to go to the hospital and then be sent home. Around 4:00 am on April 13th Ryan said we were going to the hospital. We got there and found out I was dilated to 5 cm so we were admitted.

I got my epidural around 7:00 am and it worked instantly. My only complaint was I wish I could have had it earlier! I continued to progress and was 'complete' at 12:00 pm. They decided I would start pushing around 12:30. I ended up pushing for over 3 hours and our sweet baby girl, Madelyn Michelle, arrived at 3:44 pm on April 13th. She was 8 lbs 15 oz and 22 in long.

As you might guess, she was perfect in every way! Our little angel was finally here!
