Thanksgiving 2014

Madelyn & Uncle Luke - always smiling
The only picture we took on our annual walk!
We had another fun Thanksgiving weekend spending time with lots of family!  We ended up staying in Owatonna on Wed night.  We originally planned to head to Iowa on Wed but a snow storm rolled in during the morning and then roads/traffic was awful.  It took us over 2 hrs to get to Owatonna so we decided to stay there and try again on Thursday morning.  So thankful that we did that as the roads still weren't in the best shape on Thursday so I can't imagine how long it would have taken us if we had gone all the way to Iowa on Wed.

We had so much fun in Iowa!  The whole Bormann family was there.  We got to see Eric & Heather....and Heather's new engagement ring!  So beautiful!  We can't wait for their wedding which is planned for March 2016.  The extended family gathering was a smaller crowd this year due to travel plans, sickness but we enjoyed time with those that were able to make it and that meant extra time with Grandpa & Grandma which is always the best!  The kids got to see the cows, the pigs, Milton, ride in the bobcat, play with the marble machine, blocks/logs and cut/color pictures.  Always fun stuff to do at Grandma's house!

We took off for Owatonna on Friday afternoon.  Carla & her family were in Owatonna when we got there so the kids starting playing right away.  Always a fun night to sleep over, wake up together and go get donuts with Papa :)  We visited Great Grandma Marlys.  She was in good spirits and enjoyed seeing the kids.  Nora was in heaven on GG Marlys' lap and the other kids did well too.  The kids each got a purple teddy bear from GG Marlys.  They have been a HIT at our house.  Madelyn takes Teddy with her almost everywhere.  He watches her at school, eats dinner with us, gets tucked into bed with her.  Since Jack follows Madelyn's lead he has taken a loving for Teddy too.  It's sweet and so very special to watch.

Uncle Bob, Aunt Sandy, Jeff, Danielle & Tim came to Owatonna on Saturday.  Unfortunately Grandpa Ray & Darlene were sick so they couldn't make it.  It was fun to catch up, go for our annual after dinner walk, watch football and of course devour the delicious pies from Aunt Sandy!  Aunt Sandy gave the kids their Christmas gifts at Thanksgiving this year.  She is so thoughtful and the kids always love the books she gives them!  Jack enjoyed ripping the paper off and Madelyn was curious to start reading the book.

We came home late Saturday night so we could have Sunday to get unloaded and ready for the week. Always a fun weekend and now we launch into the Christmas season!
Ryan and I got a "date walk" in when we got to Owatonna after 2+ hours in the car!
