Snow Day

We had a snow day today.  The Maple Grove/Osseo school district closed schools so Madelyn's daycare was also closed.  We ended up losing power at our house so we went to visit Shari & Max for a little while.  So thankful we had a place to go that was close to our house since it started to get a little chilly here.  I figured if I was getting cold, Madelyn had to be as well.

Max is so sweet to Madelyn.  I had put her down in the pack & play and was trying to get a little work done.  She was crying, which isn't all that unusual but then she usually falls asleep.  When she didn't fall asleep Max asked if he could go in and see Madelyn.  I said, of course!  She stopped crying and I could hear them talking/laughing.  I walked in the room later and Madelyn was standing in the pack & play and Max was on the outside handing her some toys.  It was the cutest thing!!!  Then Max said to me "you see where it's wet down there, that's from Madelyn's tears".  So cute but of course broke my heart even though I know she was fine.  So wonderful that Max was there to entertain her.

back to the doctor

Madelyn has another double ear infection.  Last week I had a feeling she had an ear infection but I was hoping I was wrong and that she was just getting teeth or had a cold.  For about a week she would scream out of the blue and for no reason but when she woke up screaming in the middle of the night on Sunday night I knew it was an ear infection.......so I took her in on Monday.  Sure enough, another double ear infection.  Less than 30 days after the last one finally cleared up.

We have a follow up appointment on 3/12 so we'll see where things are at.  I have a feeling tubes are in the future.

1st Steps

Yesterday Madelyn took her 1st steps, all by herself!  She was holding onto our wine rack when she let go and started to stand/balance on her own.  If Ryan hadn't pointed it out to me, I wouldn't have even noticed.....even though I was looking right at her.

Ryan turned Madelyn to face me and she took 3 steps before falling on her bottom!!!  It was so awesome because both Ryan & I were able to see her do that for the first time.  She hasn't done it since but she has gotten really good at walking while only holding on with one hand and she is able to stand by herself for longer & longer periods of time.

It is amazing to watch her grow up and learn/do new things everyday!

Last weekend we were at my sister's which was so fun!  I feel like I say this all the time but Madelyn and Bishop love each other so much and have a blast together!  Madelyn wants to do everything Bishop is doing......which includes walking.  She tumbles over but she gets right back up and keeps on going.  Madelyn belly laughed.....as hard as we have ever heard her laugh......at everything Bishop was doing.  Anything he did made her laugh!  He was taping on the window, she laughed, he was playing with balloons, she laughed.  It was the cutest thing!  We got some of it on video but we missed the best part -- isn't that the way it always works?!?!

Nora just hung out and took it all in.  She is the sweetest, tiniest, most adorable little baby girl!  I know Bishop was smaller than Nora but that's so hard to believe.  In no time, she'll be doing the same things as Bishop & Madelyn.  Can't wait!

Such a happy eater

Valentine's Day

Ryan always does such special & meaningful things for me on Valentines Day!  This year he, with the help of Madelyn :), got me this beautiful rose and my favorite donut!  He also put together a slide show of pictures of the 3 of us for me.  Brought tears to my eyes as I watched it.  I am truly blessed with the most amazing husband and daughter!  Life is great!

After we had cake and Bishop opened presents,  Ryan, Madelyn & I went to the hospital to meet Baby Nora.  She is so precious and absolutely beautiful!  It's so hard to believe that was Madelyn only 10 months ago - they grow up so fast.  Madelyn loves being an older cousin :)  She kissed baby Nora and wanted to love her up!  These cousins are going to have so much fun growing up with each other.

Carla did awesome!!  I was soooo impressed.  She was getting ready for a birthday party while she was in labor - crazy girl!!!  When we got to their house, Carla said her contractions were 2.5 minutes apart - I looked at her and said "What are you still doing here.....you need to get to the hospital!"  They left for the hospital at 10:15 am and Nora was born at 12:05 pm!  She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 3/4 inches long.....perfect in every way!
