Bormann Family Reunion

This past weekend we were in Des Moines for the Bormann family reunion.  They usually have a reunion every 5-7 years.  I have met most of the Bormann side but we don't see them that often so it was fun day together!

We went to Owatonna on Friday night and stayed with Nana & Papa.  We had to be in Des Moines by 12:00 on Saturday and that would have been an early morning and a long car ride so we decided to break up the trip.  Papa's always good for donuts in the morning, then it was a quick story and we were on our way to Des Moines!

We stopped at the mall when we got to Des Moines as we got there a few minutes early.  It had a play area for the kids.  It was perfect to burn off a little energy from being in the car!

One of Ryan's cousins hosted the reunion at their house which was so nice.  The weather held off until around 4:00 and then it rained the rest of the afternoon/evening.  I think all but one of Ryan's cousins was there and I'm guessing there were around 50 people there??  Uncle Eric & Auntie Heather came from Chicago so it's always a treat when they are in town since we don't get to see them as often.

The kids did great!  Madelyn had a blast playing with some of Ryan's cousin's kid's kids!  Jack ran around the whole afternoon and then crashed for about 45 minutes in the late afternoon.  We left the reunion at 8:15 so it was a full day.  The kids were exhausted…..and so was I!

We stayed at a hotel in Des Moines and it worked out well that all our rooms were close to each other so the adults could hang out after the kids went to bed.  Madelyn asked to go to bed around 9:45….you know she's tired when she asks to go to bed!  I don't think she's ever asked to go to bed before!  Uncle Marc and Aunt Jody weren't able to stay as they had to get back to the farm.  We missed them!

Sunday morning we had breakfast outside on the patio, took a few pictures and then we all took off for home.  It was such a fun weekend!  So blessed to be part of the Bormann family!

Field Trip with Mommy!

I went with Madelyn on her field trip this week.  We went to French Lake Park.  It was so fun!

Madelyn is loving preschool and it's fun to watch her interact with her teachers and friends.  It was an overcast day so I was a little bummed, hoping I would get some sun, but it turned out to be a good thing otherwise the kids get so hot.  We spent the morning playing at the park, going on the trolly ride and then we had a picnic lunch before riding the bus back to school.

Nana's Birthday, Father's Day and NCAA Celebration

Nana and Papa with their sweethearts
We hung out with my family last night.  Everyone came to our house and we had a lot of fun!  It was a perfect summer night so the kids ran around, played outside and the adults kicked back and relaxed…..as much as we could with kids riding bikes and toddlers into everything.

We celebrated my mom's birthday, Father's Day and our NCAA tourney bracket!  Every year we do an NCAA March Madness bracket and then we order dinner and the winner doesn't have to pay.  We used to go out for dinner but that's too hard with 4 kids between the ages of 1 and 4 so we will be ordering in for a few years!  Much more enjoyable for everyone!!

Madelyn goes to the dentist

Madelyn had her 1st dentist appointment on Wednesday.  She did so well.  We talked about it and I think she was excited to finally go and see what it was all about.  She seemed very comfortable and her hygienist was awesome!  You can tell she works with a lot of kids as she knew what to do/say and Madelyn just went with it.  Good news - her teeth look good!  You just never know since we do our best to brush her teeth but since she's so young you're not sure if/what you're missing.

After her appointment, we went to the park to play which was fun for both the kids!  It was a perfect summer evening!

To the Farm!

We went to the farm this weekend.  There was a surprise party for one of Ryan's friends……they are starting to turn the big 4-0.  It was fun to see his friends and of course fun to be on the farm with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Marc, Aunt Jody and Uncle Chris!  The kids love it and it's relaxing for me as there are so many others to help and play with the kids.  Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't be outside as much as we would have liked but we still had a great time!

1st Field Trip…..to the Zoo!

Yesterday Madelyn went on her first field trip with her preschool class.  They went to the Como Zoo!  She had a great time and kept asking when she got to go - this started at 6:00 am on the Wed morning.  The teachers said the kids did great and they had a gorgeous day.

Hard to believe our baby girl is already going on field trips!  This summer is going to be so fun for Madelyn!  They have a field trip every week.  She's not going to know what hit her with all the fun places they are going!

When we got home last night the kids wanted to water the plants so that was the fun activity at our house!  It doesn't take much to keep these kids happy and entertained.  We love summer!
